Things to Know for Musicians

What is the Front Porch Stage?

The front Porch Stage is an outdoor performance stage located on the grounds of the Sioux Empire Fair. It was build in 1999 to showcase local musical talent during the fair. The year the Fair runs August 5th through August 10th.

What kinds of music are you looking for?

All kinds of performed music is welcome on the Front Porch! We had youth bands, gospel groups, variety combos, drum lines, choirs, vocalists, country bands, rock bands, bluegrass music and school ensembles.

What are the performance times?

The Front Porch starts each day at 1:00pm and runs until about 7:00pm. Performances generally start on the hour and run about 30 to 40 minutes.

What to Bring

What is provided on the Front Porch?

All front line sound(main public address system) is provided by the Fair, and back-line equipment (amplifiers, keyboard, and full drum kit except cymbals), is provided courtesy of Sioux Falls Music, our partners in production of the Front Porch. You need to bring only other instruments used by your group. We also need to have you arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled performance time to do a sound check.
